Santec, a manufacturer of tunable lasers and test instruments for the fiber optics industry, has released a tunable laser with an extended wavelength range of up to 1680nm. Based on an external cavity design, this new product extends the range of Santec’s TSL-210V series of tunable lasers. In addition to fiber optic telecommunications the laser is suitable for applications such as gas sensing and material characterization.
Santec’s current tunable laser series covers the wavelength range 1260nm to 1630nm. Recent advances in semiconductor laser diode technology have enabled this long wavelength range to be realized. Tuning range for the TSL-210V is 1580-1680nm with an output power of up to 10mW.
The laser is a single channel bench-top type model. It offers continuous mode-hop-free tuning over the entire wavelength range and has full GPIB interface. For gas sensing applications, the laser can be supplied with an additional function to enable wavelength modulation at up to 20kHz. A rapid wavelength scan across multiple gas lines can easily be achieved.
The new City8 from Pirelli is a carrier-class platform providing high-bandwidth, managed services over a single fiber pair. Pirelli’s CWDM has eight channels with the option to upgrade to 16 and supports time division multiplexing (TDM) and datacom interfaces. Field programmable electronic core and pluggable SFP optical transceivers allow the telecom operator to address all possible network applications. Sub-lambda multiplexing enables the transmission of multiple services over a single wavelength while maintaining transparent client services. (Couldn’t find a photo).
Pirelli’s new Dynamically Tunable Laser - DTL C13 Series, High Power Full C-Band tunable laser source is a continuous wave external cavity laser for DWDM optical network systems. DTL C13 tunes over the entire C-band on the ITU-T 50 GHz channel grid. DTL C13 meets Telecordia GR-468-CORE qualification requirements - no moving parts are needed to achieve tunability. Additionally, the hermetically-sealed 26-pin-butterfly packaging, increases reliability and decreases form factor.
Xtellus, a supplier of dynamic DWDM solutions, has announced it is introducing a Micro Wavelength Blocker, the Wavelength Blocker 7000, optimized for deployment in Cable MSO optical networks and Metro telecommunications networks.
The wavelength blocker is the engine for reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (R-OADMs) and is the only dynamic wavelength selective technology deployed in volume in operational DWDM systems. Offering access to all wavelengths for drops and adds the wavelength blocker is a solution to meet the requirement of economically adding and dropping any number of wavelengths at a node.
Lynx Photonic Networks has added an all-optical bypass system to its LightLEADER™ 3000 series of plug-and-play photonic switches. The new LL-300x system is targeted at carriers and service providers in storm-affected areas where electrical wire breakdowns are common and cause power outages in one or more network nodes.
October 3, 2005 – TriAccess Technologies, Inc., today announced that it has received initial orders for its new line of high sensitivity radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) designed for use in telecommunications Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) applications. Samples of the FTTH 6200 series RFIC are available for order today and volume shipments are expected in the first half of 2006.
“As the telecom and cable TV industries compete for consumer’s triple play business (voice, video, data), a clash of major proportions is creating a great opportunity for well positioned equipment vendors to sell products tailored for FTTH, cable hybrid fiber coax and WiMax systems,” says Chris Day, President and Chief Technology Officer for TriAccess Technologies, Inc. “Our new FTTH products dramatically reduce costs in the Optical Network Terminal (ONT), the interface box on the side of the house.”
Coastcom, a manufacturer of voice and data communications equipment for public and private networks, announced today it has expanded its product line to include the GigaEdge 8200 next-generation CWDM reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) and GigaEdge 2330 mini multi-service provisioning platform (MSPP).
