The XP Fit Plus is a pre-polished, pre-assembled connector compatible with the standard SC connector that uses index matching gel. Instead of epoxy, an internal mechanical grip, gently but effectively holds the fiber in place and can be installed in under two minutes. Without polishing or adhesives, the XP Fit Plus makes on site installations quick and easy, diminishing the need for epoxy curing and hand polishing at the work site. 

The XP Fit Plus comes with an assembly jig and fiber holder for 900µm tight buffered fiber which makes for an accurate alignment and fiber cleave when terminating the connector. Following the guides on the assembling jig and fiber holder, assembly is effortless. Once the fiber is pushed into the connector and a click is heard, the job is complete and the connector is ready for use in CATV, Telecommunication networks, multimedia, and some FTTX applications.

RGB-5000 Single Fiber, Digital, RGB and VGA Fiber Optic Transport System

The RGB-5000 from Multidyne provides a long haul, transport solution for high-quality, up to 1600 by 1200, high-resolution, RGB or VGA video sources via ONE fiber.  The RGB-5000 performs a horizontal gen-lock for a fully synchronous and jitter free high resolution video transport.  The system has been upgraded to support a higher quality image at higher resolutions such as 1600 by 1200. The Video and Synch jitter has been reduced to as low as 4 to 5 nano seconds.  The net result is a crystal clear image at all resolutions and refreshes rates.  The improvements have also extended the operational temperature range to -20 to 60 degrees C.  

The RGB-5000 provides a total analog bandwidth of up to 600 MHz.  The system 1600 by 1200 pixels are supported over ONE optical fiber.   The supports standards include RGB, XVGA, SVGA, UXGA, Component and Analog HDTV signals. 
The RGB-5000 has a data throughput of 3.125 Giga Bits per secondMost systems have a 1.25 Gb/s data throughput with 60% compression.  

The system automatically detects the Horizontal and Vertical Sync configuration with support for sync on green, CS sync and separate HS and VS sync inputs.  The RGB-5000 supports all possible sync configurations with just ONE fiberMost systems require up to 5 fibers to support all possible sync configurations.     
Fiber optic transport provides the capability for the separation of a video signal source and the monitor.  For example, a computer or imaging device can be in a different location than the monitors.  In many applications space is limited in the monitor area.  With flat screen technology, very little space is required.  The computers or imaging devices can be in another room.  Systems are available to transport RGB video as well as audio, keyboard and mouse control.  Application include commodity and stock exchanges, medical and MRI displays, advertising and signs, sporting and concert video displays, video walls, digital cinema, radar displays, air traffic control, military information displays plus many more…

Daisy-chain one RGB/UXGA source to multiple monitors with the NEW MultiDyne RGB-5000-DC RGB/UXGA Fiber Optic Transport Systems with Daisy-Chain.  The receiver unit includes an optical repeater to re-transmit the optical RGB/UXGA signal to the next monitor in the chain.  Distribute one High Resolution, RGB/UXGA Video signal from one point to multiple points.  

Now the user can distribute a high resolution video signal using one fiber optic transmitter to many receivers.  The user now can save the cost of duplicate transmitter units, passive and active splitters and add/drop devices.  Each RGB-5000-FRX-DC receiver unit includes a fiber optic input and output.  Internally the fiber optic input is decoded for the local monitor and then repeated for re-transmission to the next monitor in the chain.   The system can virtually repeat a high resolution video signal indefinitely. 

The RGB-5000-ET RGB/UXGA Fiber Optic Transport Systems with Ethernet and Data is the latest addition to the Multidyne RGB-5000 Series.  Distribute one High Resolution, RGB/UXGA Video signal with 10-BaseT Ethernet and RS232, RS422 or RS485 bi-directional data.  The RGB-5000 provides a jitter-free, long haul, transport solution for high-quality, 1900 by 1600, RGB/UXGA via ONE fiber.    

Now the user can control the monitor or project from a remote distance.  The a high resolution video signal, monitor remote control and network data can now be transported via fiber cable for distances of 200 meters to 40 Kilometers.

8×8 Low Cost MEMS Switch from DiCon

dicon8x8switch.gifDiCon Fiberoptics  is announcing a new Low-Cost MEMS 8×8 Matrix Switch Module. The 8×8 Matrix Switch Module is based on DiCon’s MEMS 1×8 Optical Switch component.

The Switch Module uses a new housing design that incorporates a modular fiber-tray design for reduced integration time and manufacturing cost. The module includes electronics to control the operation of each switch component, as well as the overall state of the switch matrix, over the customer’s choice of serial interfaces (I2C, RS232, or RS485).

1310 nm DFB Laser from AOI

aoilaser.jpgApplied Optoelectronics, Inc., a manufacturer of laser diodes, photodetectors, and optical modules for fiber optic communication systems, has announced the commercial availability of 1310-nm lasers with enhanced industrial- grade temperature ratings.
Providing for the developing Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) market, AOI has been delivering sample shipments of the extended temperature range 1310-nm DFB laser diodes to customers since October 2005. Currently, the production capacity is 10,000 per month. AOI is also providing 1490-nm and 1550-nm DFB lasers for FTTH applications.

1×36 MEMS Switch from DiCon

DiCon Fiberoptics has announced availability of the world’s smallest MEMS 1×36 Optical Switch Module. The 1×36 Switch is based on DiCon’s MEMS 1×8 Optical Switch component. Five of the MEMS 1×8 switch components are configured to provide a compact 1×36 switch. Each MEMS 1×8 switch component is based on a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) chip, as used in DiCon’s family of MEMS 1xN Switch components. Each MEMS chip consists of a “3D” electrically movable mirror on a silicon support. Voltages applied to the MEMS chip cause the mirror to rotate on two independent axes, which changes the coupling of light between a common fiber and eight input/output fibers.

aoitriplexer.jpgApplied Optoelectronics, Inc., a manufacturer of laser diodes, photodetectors, and optical modules for fiber optic communications systems, today has announced optical modules for Passive Optical Networks (PONs).

AOI is offering bi-directional and tri-port optical blocks for Gigabit-PON (G-PON) and Ethernet PON (E-PON) applications. These optical blocks incorporate the company’s laser diodes and photodiodes along with an integrated wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs) to enable full-duplex communications over a single optical fiber.
