EXFO has announced the introduction of the AXS-100 Access Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) for fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) test applications.
Santec, a manufacturer of tunable lasers and test instruments for the fiber optics industry, has released a tunable laser with an extended wavelength range of up to 1680nm. Based on an external cavity design, this new product extends the range of Santec’s TSL-210V series of tunable lasers. In addition to fiber optic telecommunications the laser is suitable for applications such as gas sensing and material characterization.
Santec’s current tunable laser series covers the wavelength range 1260nm to 1630nm. Recent advances in semiconductor laser diode technology have enabled this long wavelength range to be realized. Tuning range for the TSL-210V is 1580-1680nm with an output power of up to 10mW.
The laser is a single channel bench-top type model. It offers continuous mode-hop-free tuning over the entire wavelength range and has full GPIB interface. For gas sensing applications, the laser can be supplied with an additional function to enable wavelength modulation at up to 20kHz. A rapid wavelength scan across multiple gas lines can easily be achieved.
Newport Corporation has introduced a new family of polarization control and measurement instruments designed for use in a wide variety of markets including research, aerospace and defense, telecommunications and data communications. These latest additions to Newport’s instrumentation solutions include a polarization extinction meter, polarization scrambler, the degree of polarization meter, a polarization stabilizer, a polarization multimeter, multifunction polarization controller, and a polarization synthesizer and analyzer.
Peleton, a developer and manufacturer of multi-wavelength lasers for applications in optical test and measurement, networking and photonic sensing, today announced the availability of the TM3100C-T tunable multi-wavelength laser source. The TM3100C-T provides the added flexibility offered by a tunable source, combined with the key features of Peleton’s unique multi-wavelength laser technology.
Today, Luna Technologies announces a new 1310 nm version of the industry’s most sensitive frequency-domain reflectometer: the Optical Backscatter Reflectometer (OBR). This failure analysis tool offers unprecedented diagnostic capabilities to the manufacturers of fiber-optic components and assemblies. Using the OBR, designers and manufacturers can peer into the heart of optical components, modules and assemblies to measure minute reflections with -125 dB sensitivity, 70 dB dynamic range and down to 10 micrometer spatial resolution.
EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. has announced the product launch of the IQS-12008 All-Band Component Analyzer.
The All-Band Component Analyzer, which is designed for the optical component manufacturing and R&D markets, is the only test system on the market capable of characterizing optical components across the entire telecom wavelength range. With a single internal tunable laser sweeping from 1260 to 1630 nm, this instrument provides simple, efficient and yet comprehensive measurement capabilities across all the bands (O, E, S, C, L, and U).
ILX Lightwave has announced the introduction of the LDP-3840B, a precision pulsed current source developed specifically for pulsing low and medium power laser diodes. The LDP-3840B replaces the original LDP-3840/03 and is now CE marked.
The pulsed current source was designed for clean pulses at laser diode load levels with ILX trademark laser diode protection features delivering up to 3A of low noise current with fast rise times and low overshoot.
Peleton, a privately held developer and manufacturer of multi-wavelength lasers for applications in optical test and measurement, networking and photonic sensing, today announced the availability of the TM3050C multi-wavelength laser source.
The TM3050C is a compact, flat-spectrum, high-power laser offering significant cost-per-wavelength savings over traditional multi-wavelength test solutions. The versatile laser finds applications in manufacturing, research, development, validation and field deployment environments.
The Agilent 86038B Photonic Dispersion and Loss Analyzer combines speed and accuracy for complete testing of optical fiber and components, providing the ideal instrument for both development and manufacturing. Measurements are based on the industry-standard modulation phase shift method (MPS) and the modular implementation permits customization to test needs.
With a single device connection and at the touch of a button, the 86038B measures spectral group delay (GD) and chromatic dispersion (CD), differential group delay (DGD) and polarization mode dispersion (PMD), insertion loss or gain (IL) and polarization dependent loss (PDL). In addition, it makes very accurate fiber length measurements. Advanced matrix analysis also provides 2nd-order PMD.
