Pulsed Laser Diode Current Source from ILX
ILX Lightwave has announced the introduction of the LDP-3840B, a precision pulsed current source developed specifically for pulsing low and medium power laser diodes. The LDP-3840B replaces the original LDP-3840/03 and is now CE marked.
The pulsed current source was designed for clean pulses at laser diode load levels with ILX trademark laser diode protection features delivering up to 3A of low noise current with fast rise times and low overshoot.
The LDP-3840B includes a GPIB/IEEE-488 interface for automated testing and characterization of laser diodes. For system integration, the LDP-3840B offers input and output triggers to control pulses and initiate corresponding measurements without a command program.
According to Thaddeus Orosz, Instrumentation Product Manager at ILX, “Pulse testing laser diodes is important in laser diode development and manufacturing, especially in pre-packaged form where adequate heat sinking is not practical.”
