Alfalight, Inc. today announced the release of its next generation, high-performance Combined Power Module II (CPM-II). The CPM-II incorporates the high brightness of the previous-generation CPM and adds precision wavelength control through integrated temperature stabilization, making it ideal for pumping fiber lasers at 976 nm. The CPM-II is available with 25 watts of output power and a 200 micron (0.22 NA) output fiber for fiber laser applications. A version with 21 watts in a 6+1:1 pump/signal configuration (with 5/125 micron signal/pump fiber) is also available for fiber amplifier and LIDAR systems.
“The CPM-II eliminates some important challenges facing designers of high-power fiber lasers and high-fidelity amplifiers,” said Ron Bechtold, vice president of sales and marketing for Alfalight. “This pump source simplifies the development of high-performance fiber lasers and amplifiers by incorporating wavelength control, advanced protection circuitry, higher output power and high reliability. As a result, users can focus on the other aspects of their fiber laser system design and not the pump performance.”
The CPM-II provides precision wavelength stabilization using an integrated temperature controller. This compact, 4.5 × 7 × 1 inch module utilizes thermoelectrically-cooled fiber-coupled laser diodes. The solution requires only a low-cost, fixed-voltage supply to drive the temperature control and a laser current supply. In addition, fully hermetic diode packaging, advanced electrical protection circuitry and rugged housing ensure effective operation in both laboratory and field environments.
CPM II Product Details
The Alfalight AC2-976-01-253 provides 25 watts of 976 nm fiber-coupled light output (200 micron, 0.22NA). The AC2-976-31-213 provides 21 watts of 976 nm power in a convenient pass-through configuration, with 5/125 micron signal input and 5/125/245 micron pump-plus-signal output. The lifetime of both units exceeds 10,000 hours. Wavelength is adjustable from the factory-set 976.0 nm via an on-board potentiometer or optional external voltage input. A 2-meter cable is included.
